The Treasure Valley is the Boise area, known locally as the Treasure Valley, the region in southwest Idaho that runs along the Boise River. It is the commercial, civic, and population center of the state, and the name covers a much larger footprint than any single city.
The geography
The region sits in southwest Idaho, along the Boise River and its tributaries, framed by mountains. It spans Ada County and Canyon County, which means it includes the cities of Boise, Eagle, Meridian, and Star, along with many others across both counties. When people say the Treasure Valley, they mean this whole populated corridor, not one city.
Where I work
I focus my practice on Boise, Eagle, Meridian, and Star, the areas I serve day to day. The wider Treasure Valley includes many cities beyond the four I serve, and when a search reaches beyond my primary areas, I say so and help clients connect with the right local representation. The point of knowing the region is choosing the area that fits you, and that choice is personal.
Why it matters when you search
Because the name covers a wide region, Treasure Valley real estate includes very different options: intown Boise, riverfront Eagle, master-planned Meridian, small-town Star, and the communities beyond. Knowing the difference between the region and the areas within it is the first step to a focused search. The communities guide compares the areas I serve, and the area-fit question walks through how to choose.
Sylvia's Advice
When people tell me they are moving to the Treasure Valley, my first question is which part, because the region spans two counties and many distinct communities. I have lived the move to the Boise area, so I know the questions that matter: commute, home style, and the everyday trade-offs between the areas. The areas I serve, Boise, Eagle, Meridian, and Star, all fall inside this region and all feel different. Tell me how you want to live, and I will help you pick the area that fits before we look at a single home.
